Ingredients
- 3 pounds of ground beef, adjust to your liking
- 1 large onion, finely chopped, as desired
- 2 cans (16 ounces each) of tomato sauce, to your preference
- 2 cans (6 ounces each) of tomato paste
- ground black pepper, to your liking
- 1 can (16 ounces) of tomato puree, adjust to taste
- ½ cup of ketchup
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of prepared yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon of celery salt
- 1 tablespoon of onion salt
- 1 tablespoon of garlic salt
- ½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese
Step 1
In a spacious pot, cook and stir ground beef with onion until the beef loses its pink color, which usually takes around 10 minutes. Remember to discard any extra grease from the pot.
Step 2
Next, pour in the tomato sauce and tomato paste, and season the mixture with a hint of pepper. Enhance the flavors by introducing tomato puree and ketchup. Then, carefully add in brown sugar, mustard, celery salt, onion salt, and garlic salt, stirring thoroughly after each new addition for optimal taste.
Step 3
Allow the sauce to gently simmer over medium-low heat, making sure to stir it frequently. This process helps to meld the flavors together, typically requiring 30 to 45 minutes. For an added touch of richness, sprinkle in some Parmesan cheese during the final 5 minutes of cooking.
