Ingredients
- Two cans of salmon, each weighing 14.75 ounces,
- Finely minced half of a vibrant red bell pepper,
- A quarter cup of finely minced sweet onion,
- Three-fourth cup of bread crumbs,
- Two eggs, lightly beaten,
- A tablespoon of soy sauce,
- Two teaspoons of fiery Sriracha hot sauce,
- Two teaspoons of aromatic ground ginger,
- A teaspoon of rich sesame oil,
- A teaspoon of pungent dried mustard powder,
- A teaspoon of flavorful garlic powder,
- A tablespoon of versatile vegetable oil,
- A teaspoon of fragrant sesame oil.
Step 1
Begin by setting up a colander over a bowl. Place the salmon in the colander, gently separating the fish to allow for proper draining. Let it sit for approximately 10 minutes to ensure it drains well. Once drained, discard the excess liquid and transfer the salmon to a spacious bowl.
Step 2
Next, incorporate the bell pepper and onion into the salmon mixture. To this, add the bread crumbs, eggs, soy sauce, Sriracha, ginger, a teaspoon of sesame oil, mustard powder, and garlic powder. Thoroughly mix all the ingredients until well combined. Shape the mixture into 5 patties and lay them out on a cookie sheet. Cover the patties with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour, or overnight for enhanced flavors to meld.
Step 3
When ready to cook, heat vegetable oil with a teaspoon of sesame oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully transfer the patties into the skillet, then reduce the heat to medium. Cook the patties, flipping them just once, until they achieve a beautiful golden-brown color on each side, which should take around 7 to 9 minutes per side. Once done, arrange the cooked salmon burgers on a lovely serving platter for a delightful presentation.
