Ingredients
- Sliced medium onions 2 units
- Freshly sliced mushrooms ½ pound
- Olive oil ⅓ cup
- White vinegar ⅓ cup
- Soy sauce 3 tablespoons
- Brown sugar 1 tablespoon
- Crushed garlic cloves 2 units
- Coarsely ground black pepper ½ teaspoon
- Rib-eye steaks 2 pieces, each weighing 5 ounces
Step 1
In a medium bowl, mix together onions, mushrooms, olive oil, vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and pepper. Next, prepare a gallon-sized zip-top bag and add the steaks to it. Pour the flavorful mixture over the steaks, seal the bag, and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight.
Step 2
To start cooking, adjust the oven rack to be about 6 inches away from the broiler's heat source and preheat the broiler. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place the marinated steaks on top of it.
Step 3
Broil the steaks for about 8 minutes on each side until they are hot and with a slight pink center.
Step 4
While the steaks are broiling, transfer the onions, mushrooms, and the leftover marinade into a saucepan. Let it simmer over medium-low heat until the steaks are fully cooked. Once done, serve the savory sauce along with the caramelized onions and mushrooms over the deliciously cooked steaks.
