Ingredients
- 2 lbs of ground beef
- 2 lbs of ground pork
- ¼ cup of breadcrumbs
- A splash of beef broth
- A touch of brown sugar for added sweetness (Optional)
- A hint of onion powder for flavor (Optional)
- A pinch of kosher salt for seasoning
- A dash of ground black pepper
- A sprinkle of ground coriander for depth of flavor
- A touch of ground nutmeg for warmth
- A hint of ground allspice for a hint of complexity (Optional)
- A drizzle of olive oil
Step 1
Combine ground beef and pork, bread crumbs, beef broth, brown sugar, a dash of onion powder, kosher salt, pepper, coriander, nutmeg, and allspice in a spacious bowl. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. Shape a portion of the mixture into small patties, setting the rest in the fridge for later use.
Step 2
In a generous skillet, warm up some oil over medium-low heat. Cook the sausage patties until they turn a delightful brown and are fully cooked, usually around 3 to 5 minutes per side. Avoid overcooking to prevent dryness; use a thermometer to ensure they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
Step 3
After cooking, taste a sausage patty and adjust seasonings in the raw mixture as needed. Press the remaining sausage mixture into loaf pans and chill in the fridge until firm, typically for 2 to 3 hours.
Step 4
Once set, remove the sausage "loaves" from the pans and cut them into 1/2-inch slices. Separate the slices with plastic wrap and store them in the refrigerator if not consumed within 4 days. When ready to cook, follow the same cooking instructions over medium-low heat.
Extra Tips & Suggestions
