Ingredients
- ⅓ cup of hearty rolled oats
- ⅓ cup of raw almonds with their skins on
- ⅓ cup of creamy cashews
- Divided into 4 cups, pure filtered water
- 1 tablespoon of whole flax seeds
Step 1
Mix oats, almonds, and cashews in a spacious bowl, then pour in 2 cups of filtered water. Let it soak in the fridge for a minimum of 8 hours to enhance the flavors.
Step 2
Once ready, take it out and introduce the flax seeds. Give it some time for the seeds to interact with the liquid and reach room temperature, approximately 1 hour.
Step 3
Next, transfer everything into a blender and whirl it until it turns into a smooth and creamy consistency. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes before incorporating the remaining 2 cups of filtered water. Blend until perfectly mixed and delightfully creamy.
Step 4
Using a fine-mesh sieve, strain out any pulp. Serve and relish it immediately or store it in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Remember to give it a good shake before pouring it out.
Extra Tips & Suggestions
- 1. Utilize mason jars or recycled glass bottles to store your homemade plant-based milk. They not only add a rustic charm to your kitchen but also keep your milk fresh for longer.
- 2. Consider freezing any excess plant-based milk in ice cube trays. This way, you can easily pop out a few cubes at a time to use in smoothies or recipes without worrying about waste.
