Ingredients
- A generous ⅔ cup of soy sauce for that savory umami
- Followed by a smooth ⅓ cup of hot water to balance the flavors
- Enhance with a dash of ¼ cup of Worcestershire sauce for depth
- A tablespoon of liquid smoke essence for that smoky allure
- Add a hint of onion powder for aromatic undertones
- Elevate with garlic powder for a pungent kick
- Spice it up with 1 ½ teaspoons of cayenne pepper for a fiery touch
- Embrace the flavors with Creole-style seasoning and Cajun blend
- Lastly, tender slices of a 2.5-pound London broil to soak in the marinade
Step 1
Combine soy sauce, hot water, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, Creole seasoning, and Cajun seasoning in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave for around a minute, ensuring everything is well mixed. Next, add the beef and coat it thoroughly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, then let it marinate in the fridge for at least 8 hours, or even better, overnight. When ready, take the meat out of the marinade and rinse it with hot water.
Step 2
To prepare the oven, preheat it to a low temperature of 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). Remember to place a pan on the lower rack to catch any drips.
Step 3
Arrange the strips of meat on a rack, leaving about an inch of space between each piece. Allow the meat to dehydrate in the oven for 5 to 6 hours, or until you achieve your preferred level of dryness.
Extra Tips & Suggestions
- 1. Keep your spicy beef jerky in an airtight container to maintain its freshness and flavor. This will also prevent it from absorbing any unwanted odors from other foods in your pantry.
- 2. If you're making a large batch of jerky, consider vacuum-sealing individual portions for easy grab-and-go snacks. This will help to preserve the jerky's texture and taste for longer.
