Ingredients
- A measurement of all-purpose flour
- Beaten eggs, totaling three in number
- A quantity of panko bread crumbs, measuring two cups
- A teaspoon of garlic powder
- Three-quarters of a teaspoon of paprika
- Half a teaspoon each of cayenne pepper, ground black pepper, and chili powder
- A quarter teaspoon of salt
- Imitation chicken breast halves (seitan) from two packages, each weighing 16 ounces, cut into strips that are one inch wide
- Cooking spray
Step 1
Sprinkle a generous amount of flour on a large plate. Crack open eggs into a shallow bowl. In another shallow bowl, mix together bread crumbs with a flavorful blend of garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, chili powder, and salt for a kick of spice.
Step 2
Take each imitation chicken strip and coat it lightly with flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally, dredge it in the seasoned bread crumb mixture before carefully placing it on a clean plate.
Step 3
Preheat your air fryer to a high temperature of 500 degrees F (260 degrees C) for optimum crispiness. Once ready, arrange a line of the coated strips in the air fryer basket and give them a light spritz of cooking spray.
Step 4
Cook the strips in the air fryer for about 6 minutes, then pause to flip them over using tongs. Continue cooking until they achieve a beautiful golden brown color, which should take an additional 4 to 6 minutes.
