Ingredients
- 3 cups of skim milk
- 3 tablespoons of rich, brown sugar
- ¾ teaspoon of aromatic cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon of sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg
- 2 cups of Quaker® Oats (Quick or Old Fashioned, not cooked)
- 1 cup of mashed, ripe bananas
- 2 tablespoons of roughly chopped toasted pecans
- 1 teaspoon of plain or vanilla non-fat yogurt
- A handful of small banana slices
- 1 tablespoon of whole pecan halves
Step 1
In a medium saucepan, delicately bring milk, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg to a gentle boil while keeping a watchful eye on it. Stir in oats and let it return to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally until the mixture has absorbed most of the liquid. This process usually takes around 1 minute for quick oats and about 5 minutes for old-fashioned oats.
Step 2
Once the oatmeal is ready, take it off the heat and gently mix in the mashed bananas and pecans.
Step 3
Divide the flavorful oatmeal among 6 cereal bowls. For an extra touch of deliciousness, top each serving with a dollop of yogurt, some sliced bananas, and pecan halves if desired.
